What do you do with a used up golf course? Make a housing development in a county with some of the lowest percentage of developable land in the state, obviously! The San Diego Tribune wrote about it in April and then it was officially approved on June 15th with another article following where they addressed fire safety for the area. (More on fire safety here.)
That is exactly what is happening in Rancho Peñasquitos (which means "little cliffs") just West of of 15 and north of Carmel Valley Road. Lennar is set to build 536 residential units on this 112 acre area (81 of which will be set aside for low income seniors).
(If you are more a video watcher - this is a GREAT video from The Juniper's Community Outreach Manager and Lennar's Development Director, Allegra Parisi. https://vimeo.com/444322528)
