Del Sur is getting a new adult playground. The new Del Sur Town Center was just approved by the San Diego Planning Commission this week. This center will sit in between Design39Campus and the Del Sur Homes surrounding Babcock Street and will be accessible by Camino Del Sur, Paseo Del Sur, Del Sur Ridge Road, Garretson Street, and Zavlovsky Place.
We have lived in 4S Ranch since 2006, and the amount of growth is unbelievable. Del Sur has grown immensely and the need for the anchor store, Target, in the new center, definitely exists.
The first phase will take about one year to complete and will consist of 171,000 square feet containing local shops, restaurants, and services. Phase 2 will include 37,400 additional square feet of retail space, office space, attached homes, a village green park for community events, and parks and trails.
The center will have an exterior plaza with a fire pit and will add to the pedestrian, community feel of the Del Sur and 4S Ranch neighborhoods.
The current Ralphs shopping center in 4S Ranch will be well complimented by the Del Sur Center, and it will be nice to have an additional space to hang out with friends. It remains to be seen how the center will affect the traffic on Camino Del Sur, which can back up pretty heavily during commute hours and before and after school lets out at Design39Campus and Del Norte High School.
